NOTICE OF CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
ORDINANCE
The following is a summary of an Ordinance approved by the Port Orchard City Council at their
regular Council meeting held April 12, 1993.
ORDINANCE NO. 1577
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 926 (Port Orchard
Municipal Code 5.78) RELATIVE TO GARBAGE COLLECTION
BUSINESS AND OCCUPATION TAX.
Copies of Ordinance No. 1577 are available for review at the office of the City Clerk of the City
of Port Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed
to any interested person without charge. Thirty days after publication, copies of Ordinance No.
1577 will be provided at a nominal charge.

ORDINANCE NO. 1577
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ORCHARD, WASHINGTON AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 926 (Port
Orchard Municipal Code 5.78) RELATIVE TO GARBAGE
COLLECTION BUSINESS AND OCCUPATION TAX.
WHEREAS, in 1975 the City of Port Orchard issued a call for bids for
refuse collection and disposal within the city limits, and
WHEREAS, South Sound Sanitation was the successful bidder, and
WHEREAS, the City and South Sound Sanitation did enter into a
contractural agreement relative to refuse/solid waste collection and disposal,
and
WHEREAS, the City/South Sound Sanitation Refuse/Solid Waste
Collection and Disposal Agreement did establish a business and occupation tax in
the sum of six per cent (6%).
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard does
hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 926 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
5.78.010 Levy of Tax. That a Business and Occupation
Tax is hereby imposed against the gross revenues
received for collection of solid waste within the City
of Port Orchard. The tax shall be at the rate of six
percent (6%) of the gross revenues received by the
contractor for collection and disposal services within
the city limits.
5.78.020 Payment of tax. The tax due under this chapter
shall be paid to the City Treasurer by the contractor on
a monthly basis.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by
the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 12th
day of April, 1993.
