1527 - Ordinance - Compensation for CouncilmembersORDINANCE NO. 1527 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1524 AND ESTABLISHING A RATE OF COMPENSATION FOR CITY OOUNCIL MEMBERS /A rrAE A i'-� 1513"11193 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. THAT Ordinance No. 1524 is hereby amended to read as follows: Effective January 1, 1992 compensation for Port Orchard City Councilmembers shall be as follows: RATE OF COMPENSATION A. Regular Meetings: $190.00 B. Ccrtmittee Meetings: $30.00 per committee meeting with $450.00 maximx.m per calendar quarter C. Special Meetings: $30.00 each 1. Those special sessions which are called in accordance with ROW. 11. The per meeting rate shall be adjusted annually as of January 1 based on 100% of the Seattle (CPI-U) Cost Of Living Index. The index applied will be for the first half year increase over the previous years first half which is released in late August. III. COMMITTEE MEETINGS A. Carmittee meetings shall be scheduled at a time acceptable to the entire committee in order to be considered a compensable meeting. B. In the event of the unavailability of one committee member and the matter to be researched is of an urgent nature requiring a report prior to the missing member's return, the chairman and other member may request another council member to attend the meeting. C. C mmittee chairman will include attendance information to the City Clerk on a committee report. ORDINANCE NO. 1527 Page 2 of 2 IV. NON-ATTENDANCE A. With the exception of missing a regular meeting because of an unavoidable primary employment schedule, a council member will not be compensated for non-attendance of such regular meetings unless excused by a majority vote of the City Council and no single council member may be excused for more than 4 meetings per calendar year (not to include job conflict non-attendance). Acceptable excuses shall be: 1. Vacation 2. Illness 3. Bereavement 4. Unusual or unforseen circumstances such as serious illness in the family; accident or transportation carrier delay. B. There shall be no compensation for missed committee meetings. C. There shall be no compensation for missed special meetings. IV. OTHER COMPENSATION A. Reimbursement for meals shall be allowed if the mutually agreed time of meeting is during a meal time. B. Reimbursement for mileage shall be made if the meeting is over a 25 mile distance. This would apply to attendance at an approved convention or investigative trip.
