1533 - Ordinance - Compensation for City CouncilmembersORDINANCE NO. 1533 / l��3 Jlly3 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1527 AND ESTABLISHING A RATE OF COMPENSATION FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. THAT Ordinance No. 1527 is hereby amended to read as follows: 1. Effective January 1, 1992 compensation for Port Orchard City Councilmembers shall be at the rate of Two Hundred Sixty Five Dollars ($265.00) per regular council meeting 2 COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT - The per meeting rate shall be adjusted annually as of January 1 based on 100% of the Seattle (CPI-U) Cost Of Living Index. The index applied will be for the first half year increase over the previous years first half which is released in late August. 3. NON-ATTENDANCE - With the exception of missing a regular meeting because of an unavoidable primary employment schedule, a council member will not be compensated for non-attendance of such regular meetings unless excused by a majority vote of the City Council and no single council member may be excused for more than 4 meetings per calendar year (not to include job conflict non-attendance). Acceptable excuses shall be: 1. Vacation 2. Illness 3. Bereavement 4. Unusual or unforseen circumstances such as serious illness in the family; accident or transportation carrier delay. Ordinance No. 1533 Page 2 of 2 4. OTHER COMPENSATION A. Reimbursement for meals shall be allowed if the mutually agreed time of meeting is during a meal time. B. Reimbursement for mileage shall be made if the meeting is over a 25 mile distance. This would apply to attendance at an approved convention or investigative trip.
