1491 - Ordinance - Special ElectionORDINANCE NO. 1491/-- AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD FOR NOVEMBER 6, 1990, PURSUANT TO RCW 84.52.052, TO LEVY A SPECIAL EXCESS TAX IN 1991 ESTIMATED AT $1.50 PER THOUSAND OF ASSESSED VALUATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING PORT ORCHARD'S SHARE OF OPERATION COSTS OF FIRE DISTRICT NO 7 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD. WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard contracts with Kitsap County Fire District No. 7 for emergency medical services for residents of the City, and WHEREAS, Kitsap County Fire District No. 7's Board finds that the conditions and situations faced by the District create a need which require the holding of an election to provide the funds necessary to operate and maintain the Districts medical services program, and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Port orchard finds that it is necessary to levy a special tax estimated at $1.50 per thousand of assessed valuation to be collected in 1991 to pay Port Orchard's share of operation and maintenance cost of Kitsap Co. Fire District No. 7 medical program for three years from 1991 through 1993. The tax to be voted on by the City's electorate is authorized in RCW 84.52.052. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD: Section 1. That there be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Port Orchard, at a general election to be held November 6, 1990, in all precincts within said City to proposition whether the City Council shall be authorized to levy a special tax estimated at $1.50 per thousand of assessed valuation for 1991 in lieu of the presently approved $.25 per thousand assess for 1991 and 1992 in addition to the regular $3.375 per thousand of assessed valuation allowed by law, in an amount sufficient to raise funds for the year 1991 for the purpose of paying Port Orchard's share of Emergency Medical Services for the City of Port Orchard. Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Port Orchard be authorized to certify to the Kitsap County Auditor the proposition to be voted on by the electors at said election: Ordinance No. 1491 Page 2 of 2 PROPOSITION EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES LEVY Shall the City Council of the City of Port Orchard be authorized to levy an additional tax estimated at $1.50 per thousand of assessed valuation for the year 1991, sufficient to raise funds for the purpose of paying port Orchard's share of Emergency Medical Service for the City of Port Orchard for the the years 1991-1993.
