AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO DOG LICENSE
REQUIREMENTS AND FEES AND VIOLATIONS

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
P�.l by 13g�'�)�l5ection 1. Section 1, Ordinance No. 802 and
Sections 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of Ordinance No. 693 and Sections
19, 20 and 21 of Ordinance No. 907 are hereby repealed.
Section 2. There shall be no fee for licensing
of neutered male or spayed female dogs. A certificate or
other signed statement of a licensed veterinarian shall be
required to establish that a female dog has been spayed or a
male dog has been neutered.
The license fee for each non -neutered male dog
and for each non -spayed female dog shall be a one-time $75.00
charge. In lieu of a tag, an owner may elect to have the dog
tatooed.
The above fees shall go into effect on July 1,
1987. There shall be no license fees or charges between the
effective date of this Ordinance to June 30, 1987.
Section 3. It shall be the duty of the City
Clerk, his or her appointee or his or her authorized agent tc
issue licenses to persons applying therefore, upon payment of
the license fee as herein provided, and a tag for each dog
licensed. The license shall be dated and numbered and shall
bear the name of Port Orchard, Washington, the name and
address of the owner or keeper of the dog licensed, the name
of the dog and a description of the dog, including its age
and sex. The tag shall bear the name of Port Orchard,
Washington, a serial number corresponding with the number on
the license. It shall be the duty of every owner or keeper
of a dog to keep a substantial collar on the dog and attached
firmly thereto the license tag.
Section 4. Lost tags may be replaced by a
substitute identification tag upon payment of two dollar to
the City Clerk, his appointee or his authorized agent.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port
Orchard, signed by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in
authentication of such passage this 9th day of March, 1987.
