AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND CREATING
A CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION FOR THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PORT
ORCHARD; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT
OF COMMISSION MEMBERS, AND DEFINING
THE QUALIFICATIONS, POWERS, AND DUTIES
OF COMMISSION MEMBERS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
WASHINGTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Pursuant to Chapter 41.08 of
R.C.W., there is hereby created a Civil Service
Commission to exercise the powers and perform the
duties established by such State Law in connection
with the selection, appointment and employment of
Firefighters for the City of Port Orchard.
Section 2: The Civil Service Commission
shall serve without compensation and who shall have
the qualifications, powers and duties prescribed and
directed by Chapter 41.08 of R.C.W. The Commission
members shall be appointed by the Mayor for six -year
terms to expire on the 31st. day of December, except
that the first Commission Members shall be appointed
for different terms, one expiring December 31, 1986
one expiring December 31, 1988, and one expiring
December 31, 1990.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of
Port Orchard and APPROVED by the Mayor this loth day
of June, 1985.
