PROVISION (CHAPTER 7.08 PORT ORCHARD
MUNICIPAL CODE) AND ADDING NEW SECTION
UNDER TITLE 7 ENTITLED FUR, FIN &
FEATHERS
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES ORDAIN AS
Section 1. That Port Orchard Municipal Code Section
be amended to read as follows:
1 7.08.020 Impounding Authority - Duties, Official Animal
Shelter. The impounding authority, as an agent of the Port
Orchard police department, shall enforce Port Orchard ordinances
and statutes of the State relating to the care, treatment, control,
impounding, licensing, and quarantining of animals. The impound
authority shall collect and dispose of all dead dogs and cats
found on the City streets, alleys, sidewalks and other public
areas and if the owner is known, collect a reasonable fee for
such services. The impounding authority shall take impounded
animals to the official animal shelter of the City, known as
Fur, Fin and Feathers. Fur, Fin and Feathers shall provide
impounded animals with proper care, feed and water while so
confined, and if the owner is known, collect a reasonable
fee for such services. Sick or injured animals may be impounded
when not in the custody, possession or control of the owner or
keeper and may be humanely destroyed at the discretion of the
animal shelter. The owner of such animal shall be notified of
such action if such animal is wearing a license tag, identification
tag, or if the owner is otherwise known, and the owner may be
assessed the customary service charge for such disposal.
Section 2. That a new section be added to Title 7 of
the Port Orchard Municipal Code:
FUR, FIN, FEATHERS ANIMAL SHELTER. Fur, Fin and
Feathers Society is hereby authorized to carry on the policies
as set forth in their non-profit corporation as registered in
the State of Washington on property under lease from the City
of Port O'rchard located in the SW;of S34, T34N, R1E, W.M.
The City Council shall from time to time, in conjunction
with the Advisory Board of Fur, Fin and Feather Society, make
such policies as necessary for the fulfillment of the policies
of both the City and the Society.
