PORT ORCHARD, WA – Port Orchard city officials today announced that community parks will reopen effective April 24. The news, shared by Mayor Rob Putaansuu, is consistent with most other
jurisdictions in Kitsap County.
Community parks will be available for walking, running and cycling but will not be a destination for congregating until Governor Inslee’s Stay Home, Stay Healthy directive is lifted.
“Our local parks offer an environment to benefit physical and mental health that is a top priority during these difficult times related to Covid-19,” Putaansuu said. “Social distancing
is still critical, so we ask all of our citizens to consider the health and well-being of everyone as they recreate outdoors.”
Parking lots, restrooms, picnic structures and playground equipment will remain closed until further notice.
