A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ORCHARD, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF
KITSAP RELATIVE TO THE PREPARATION OF A
JOINT CITY -COUNTY PLAN FOR SOLID WASTE
MANAGEMENT
WHEREAS, the disposal of all types of solid waste within
the County of Kitsap is a growing problem; and
WHEREAS, the.CITY OF PORT ORCHARD is required by Chap-
ter 134 of the 1969 Extraordinary Session of the Washington
State Legislature, in Section VIII thereof, to plan for its
solid waste management; and
WHEREAS, it appears that it would be most economical
for the citizens of Port Orchard for the City to enter into
a joint plan with the County of Kitsap for solid waste
mangement, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City
Council of the CITY OF PORT ORCHARD as
follows:
1) .The City of Port Orchard does hereby
join with the County of Kitsap, the
City of Bremerton, the City of Poulsbo
and the Town of Winslow, to cause a
study of solid waste maintenance to
be conducted for said county, cities
and town, and a long-range plan for
the elimination of said waste to be for-
mulated.
2.) The County of Kitsap is hereby designated
as prime agent for the application of a
Federal interest -free loan to fund the
formulation of said plan.
3) When any portion of the costs of formula-
tion of said plan become due and payable,
the City of Port Orchard: agrees to pay
its share of the amount due; provided,
however, that the share due by the City
of Port Orchard will be computed on a

per capita basis and the total cost to
the City of Port Orchard will not exceed
the sum of $ 8.60.0 0 .
4) The plan so formulated shall provide for
solid waste management for the -City of
Port Orchard, and shall meet all of the
requirements of Chapter 134 of the 1969
Session of the Washington State -Legislature,
Extraordinary session, so far as planning
for the City of Port Orchard is concerned.
The City of Port Orchard shall be provided
with five (5) copies of the joint plan
on payment of the final amount due.
PASSED by the City Council of the CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
and approved by the Mayor this 8th day of December, 1969.
