1019 - Resolution - U.S.S. Puget SoundRESOLUTION NO.1019 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, PETITIONING THE UNITED STATES SENATORS AND THE .MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FROM THE STATE OF WASHINGTON TO ASK THE NAVY DEPARTMENT TO NAME THE SHIP PRESENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THE PUGET SOUND NAVAL SHIPYARD THE U.S.S. PUGET SOUND:' WHEREAS, the AD 38 is presently under construction at the Puget Sound` Naval shipyard, in Bremerton, `riashingtoa, which is at the present time unnamed; and WHEREAS, the said ship is being constructed in the only United States Naval shipyard in Puget Sound; and WHEREAS there is no Naval ship at the present time bearing the name PUGET SOUND, while the Puget Sound Naval shipyard is one of the most efficient Naval shipyards in the entire United States, and the Naval installations in Puget Sound are among the largest, most expensive and most impressive in the United States; NOW, THIItE ME, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard that the United States Senators and the members of Congress from the State of Washington be, and they hereby are, petitioned to exercise their in- fluence to the best of their ability with the Navy Department, and other appro- priate persons, in order to have the AD 38 presently under construction in the Puget Sound Naval shipyard named the "U.S.S.
