A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, PETITION-
ING THE UNITED STATES PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE TO
LOCATE THE PROPOSED SHELLFISH SANITATION LABORATORY
AT THE MANCHESTER SITE IN KITSAP COUNTY, WASHINGTON.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the
City of Port Orchard that the United States Public Health Service intends
to change the location of the Shellfish Sanitation Laboratory from the
community of Purdy,,,Pierce County, Washington, to a site which will allow
for expansion and will provide the latest:in technological equipment; and
WHEREAS, a site is available upon the property which has'been
declared surplus by the United States government at the United States Navy
Fuel Depot, at Manchester, Kitsap County, Washington, and which site the
City Council believes would provide the proposed Shellfish Sanitation Labor-
atory.with all of the necessary services and area of expansion deemed
necessary; now,- therefore
BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS, RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Port Orchard, that it, in behalf of the citizens of the City of
Port Orchard, Washington, does hereby go on record in favor of the relocation
of the Shellfish Sanitation Laboratory upon the property declared surplus by
the United States Navy at the fuel depot, in Manchester, Kitsap County', Wash-
ington, and the City Council does hereby petition the United States Public Health
Service to select this site as the most favorable site from the standpoint of
area for future expansion, convenience to municipalities, universities and
colleges, abundance of adequate housing and a spirit of cooperation and
friendliness from the local. citizenry.
