Emergency Condition for December 20, 2022, Council MeetingORCHARD. CITY OF PORT ORCHARD PROCLAMATION OF EMERGENCY CONDITION FOR DECEMBER 20, 2022 COUNCIL MEETING WHEREAS, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning within the City of Port Orchard for the evening of December 20, 2022, with the accumulation of snow, with freezing temperatures and associated dangerous ice; and WHEREAS, the City Council is scheduled to hold its Council Meeting to conduct necessary business to meet the emergency and other related duties, beginning at 6:30PM on December 20, 2022; and WHEREAS, in the interests of public safety and the safety of employees, elected officials, contractors, and invited guests, these evening conditions necessitate that the Council Meeting be held remotely without a physical location; and NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS PROCLAIMED BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD that a weather emergency within the City of Port Orchard as a result of the aforementioned conditions and, therefore: Section 1. Pursuant to Port Orchard Municipal Code (POMC) 2.80.210, I hereby issue a proclamation of an emergency condition for the evening of December 20, 2022. Pursuant to POMC 2.04.010 and RCW 42.30.070, as the presiding officer of the City Council Meeting I authorize the December 20, 2022 Council Meeting to occur remotely via the platform zoom, without a physical location. I will submit this to the City Council for ratification as soon as is practicable.
