077-23 - Resolution - Collect Funds for Chimes Tree ContestDocuSign Envelope ID: D2698268-40D3-48C3-9659-6613E6A4292D RESOLUTION NO. 077-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 013-19 AND APPROVING THE CITY TO COLLECT FUNDS FOR CHIMES AND LIGHTS TREE DECORATING CONTEST. WHEREAS, in 2019, the Festival of Chimes and Lights committee held a new event the Downtown Tree Decorating contest, which has been very successful and continues to have 100% participation; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 013-19, adopted by the City Council on May 14, 2019, allowed the collection of $50 dollars for the Tree Decorating contest. The money goes directly to the cost of purchasing the themed item, expenses associated with placement, transporting, maintaining, and supplies; and WHEREAS, in 2022, staff was notified cost of the trees would be increasing. City Council adopted Resolution No. 060-22, on June 14, 2022, which repealed Resolution No. 013-19 and raised the Tree Decorating contest collection to $55. WHEREAS, in 2023, staff was notified the cost of the trees would be increasing again, now therefore; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: THAT: The City of Port Orchard shall collect a fee up to $75 from each person or entity participating in a City -sponsored activity at a Festival of Chimes and Lights tree decorating contest. Collected fees will be used solely for the purchase of the activity expenses associated with placement, transporting, maintaining, and supplies. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage this 25t" day of July 2023.
