031-20 - Ordinance - Setting Amount of Property Taxes to be Levied for 2021ORDINANCE NO. 031-20 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, SETTING THE AMOUNT OF PROPERTY TAXES TO BE LEVIED FOR THE YEAR 2021 PURSUANT TO RCW 84.55.120 PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PUBLICATION; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard (taxing district #8710) has met and considered its budget for the calendar year 2021; and WHEREAS, the district's actual levy amount from the previous year was $2,953,332; and WHEREAS, the population of the district is more than 10,000; and WHEREAS, on October 27, 2020, the City Council held a duly -noticed public hearing to consider revenue sources for the City's 2021 budget; now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DO HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: An increase in the regular property tax levy is hereby authorized for the levy to be collected in the 2021 tax year. SECTION 2: The dollar amount of the increase over the actual levy amount from the previous year shall be $9,629 which is a percentage increase of 0.326039% from the previous year. This increase is exclusive of additional revenue resulting from new construction, improvements to property, newly constructed wind turbines, solar, biomass, and geothermal facilities, and any increase in the value of state assessed property, any annexations that have occurred and refunds made. SECTION 3. Severability. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance should be held to be unconstitutional or unlawful by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance. SECTION 4. Publication. This Ordinance shall be published by an approved summary consisting of the title. SECTION S. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect five days after publication, as provided by law.
