AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, RELATING TO LAND USE AND ZONING,
REPEALING INTERIM ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 012-159
RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF DEVELOPMENT
STANDARDS FOR ROOF MOUNTED SIGNS.
WHEREAS, on August 11, 2015, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 012-15,
which was an interim zoning ordinance amending Port Orchard Municipal Code Section
16.65.02o, relating to roof -mounted signs; and
WHEREAS, under RCW 35A.70,390, interim zoning ordinances require a
public hearing within 6o days after adoption in order for the City Council to adopt
findings and conclusions in order to continue the interim zoning ordinance in effect for
the remainder of the six month period; and
WHEREAS, the interim zoning ordinance provided that the City would process
Ordinance 012-15 by sending it to the City Planning Commission for a public hearing
and eventual transmittal to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City staff is currently working on a new comprehensive sign
code, which will include an amendment to Section 16.65.020 on roof -mounted signs,
consistent with Ordinance 012-15, and so there is no need for any separate processing of
an amendment to POMC Section 16.65.020 in Ordinance 012-15; and
WHEREAS, on September 22, 2015, the City Council held a public hearing on
Ordinance 012-15 and voted to repeal it for the reasons stated above and those included
in the Agenda Staff Report dated September 22, 2015; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 012-15 is hereby repealed.
Section 2. Publication. This Ordinance shall be published by an approved summary
consisting of the title and be in effect 5 days after publication.
