A RESOLUT ON OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASH NGTON, AUTHORIZING
THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A LETTER OF UNDERSTAND NG TO EXTEND THE TERM
OF THE CONTRACT FOR WASTE DISPOSAT SERVICES W TH WASTE
MANAGEMENT OF WASH NGTON, NC, dba BREM.AIR DISPOSAT
WHEREAS, on July L, 2005, the City of Port Orchard entered into a S-year agreement
with Waste Management of Washington, lnc. dba Brem-Air Disposal ("Waste Management")
for the collection and disposal of garbage and recyclable materials as required for all residential
and commercial customers, which included an additional S-year extension allowance; and
WHEREAS, on June 23, 2OL5, the City of Port Orchard entered into another 5-year
agreement with Waste Management of Washington, lnc. dba Brem-Air Disposa! ("Waste
Management") for the continued collection and disposa! of garbage and recyclable materials as
required for all residential and commercial customers, which also included an additional S-year
extension allowance; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section L.2 of the current agreement, staff has again worked
with Waste Management of Washington, lnc. to extend the Contract expiration date from June
30,2020 to June 30,2023 via execution of the Letter of Understanding; and
WHEREAS, Waste Management of Washington, lnc. has agreed to extend the current
agreement expiration date to June 30,2023; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard ffidy, at its option, extend the agreement up to two
(2) extensions, the first being three (3) years and the second being (2) years; now, therefore,
THAT: The City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute a Letter of Understanding, thereby
extending the current agreement expiration date from June 30,2O2O to June 30,2023, for the
continued collection and disposal of garbage and recyclable materials as required for all
residential and commercial customers with Waste Management of Washington, lnc. dba Brem-
Air Disposal.
