A RESOTUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON TO AttOW THE
CIW TO COTLECT FUNDS FOR THE 2018 TREE DECORATING CONTEST AS PART
OF THE 2oth ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHTMES AND TIGHTS EVENT.
WHEREAS, this year is the 20th anniversary of the Festival of Chimes & Lights and the
Festival of Chimes and Lights committee would like to hold a new event downtown: Bay Street
Tree Decorating Contest; and
WHEREAS, applicant wil! pick a planter along Bay Street and decorate their fresh tree
There are 58 planters available; and
WHEREAS, the committee agreed that applicants would pay to the City an adoption fee
of S50 to enter in the contest, and the money would go directly to the tree decorating contest;
and
WHEREAS, the Finance Department recommended that a resolution be brought before
the Council as all fees and charges collected by the City need to be established through an
ordinance or resolution, now therefore;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOTVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard can collect an adoption fee of SSO for the Bay
Street Tree Decorating Contest with the understanding that the money wil! be
for purchasing of the trees and the City will not be keeping any of the funds.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage this 14th day of August 2018.
