A RESOLUT ON OF THE C TY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHTNGTON SUPPORT NG
SOUTH K TSAP SCHOOL D STR CT NO. 402 PROPOS T ON NO. 1 BOND TO BUITD
SECOND H GH SCHOOL AND PROPOS TION NO. 2 CAPITAT PROJECTS IEVY TO
ADDRESS URGENT SAFETY AND SECURIW, FACIL TY PROJECTS, AND
TECHNOLOGY NEEDS AT AtL SCHOOLS.
WHEREAS, the South Kitsap School District will place two ballot measures before voters
for the November 5, 20t8 election; and
WHEREAS, the first measure is a Bond of S18a Million to construct a second high school;
and
WHEREAS, the second measure is a Capital Levy of S21 Million to address urgent safety
and security, facility projects, and technology needs at all schools; and
WHEREAS, the taxes will remain at the 2OL7 level with approval of both measures; and
WHEREAS, all of the above direct and indirect results of the South Kitsap School District
Levy and Bond will enhance educational opportunities for the children of South Kitsap County
residents, and thereby improving the quality of life in South Kitsap; and
WHEREAS, each generation should invest in its own and its children's future by building
on physical and social improvements made by prior generations, now, therefore;
THE CITY COUNC t OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASH NGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard supports the South Kitsap School District Propositions
NO. 1 and NO. 2 and urges to Kitsap County voters to approve the ballot measures on
November 6, 2018.
