A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON SUPPORTING
SOUTH KITSAP SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 402 PROPOSITION NO. 1 EDUCATIONAL
PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS REPLACEMENT LEVY AND PROPOSITION NO. 2
SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION AND SECURITY /SAFETY GENERAL OBLIGATIONS
BONDS -$172,621.300.
WHEREAS, the South Kitsap School District will place an Educational Programs and
Operations Replacement Levy and School Construction Bond before voters as ballot issues on
February 14, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Replacement Levy will continue to bridge the gap between
state and federal funding and the cost of operating public schools; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Bond will provide funding for safety, security, and health
upgrades at every South Kitsap school; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Bond will fund the construction of a 230,000 square foot, four-
year high school and provide funding for badly needed upgrades at the existing South Kitsap
High School; and
WHEREAS, all of the above direct and indirect results of the South Kitsap School District
Levy and Bond will enhance educational opportunities for the children of South Kitsap County
residents, and thereby improving the quality of life in South Kitsap; and
WHEREAS, each generation should invest in its own and its children's future by building
on physical and social improvements made by prior generations, now, therefore;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES
AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard supports the South Kitsap School District Bond
and Replacement Levy and urges to Kitsap County voters to approve the ballot
measures on February 14, 2017.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested by
the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 24th day of January, 2017.
