Festival of Chimes and Lights
Committee Minutes
Monday, October 16, 2017; 3:30 p.m. at City Hall
Members present: Chair Lucarelli, Councilmember Donlin, and City Staff Brandy Rinearson and Jenine Floyd.
Guests present: Terry Bontrager, Saints Car Club; Sharron King, Fathoms O’ Fun Festival, Inc;
Lights and Decorations Updates
Chair Lucarelli noted public works has been in contact with the Saints about coordinating delivery of the tree.
Sound System:
Chair Lucarelli said Shelia from the Arthritis Foundation did not have a chance to get more information regarding
their sound system.
Staff Rinearson said this item does not need to go before Council for approval as it under the threshold of the
procurement policy.
The Committee briefly discussed the sound system and equipment and noted they will wait for the price from the
vendor Sheila uses before moving forward with determining who will be the sound system provider.
Misc. Updates
Chair Lucarelli said Port Orchard Bay Street Association will be working to put on the Pooch n’ Purr Parade with a
sponsorship from Woodside Animal Hospital.
Staff Rinearson said public works will be handling the clock tower chimes this year. Chair Lucarelli would like the
chimes to play ‘Here Comes Santa Clause’ during the event.
Chair Lucarelli said Sheila with the Arthritis Foundation has asked if the City could help pay for rental of the tent
used by the Arthritis Foundation and the City during the Jingle Bell Run and the Chimes and Lights Festival. The
Committee agreed this would be a good option for both parties.
The Committee continued to discuss tents; choirs; volunteers; advertisements; pictures of the event; Dragonfly’s
free movie is Elf; new Santa and a chair/sleigh for him to sit on; Library events; garbage; special event application
and insurance liability; haybales; firepits and wood; and use of the firetruck for Santa.
There being no further business, Chair Lucarelli adjourned the meeting at 4:18 p.m. Audio-only recording was
successful.
