Festival of Chimes and Lights
Committee Minutes
Monday, November 18, 2019; 3:30 p.m. at City Hall
Members present: Chair Lucarelli and City staff Thiele and Floyd. Guests present: Bobbie Stewart and
Kathleen Wilson, POBSA; Sharron King, Fathoms O’ Fun; Sandy Jennings, Soroptimist; and Kathy Garcia,
Port of Bremerton.
Tree Decorating Contest Update/Electrical Outlets
Staff Floyd indicated there is only one tree left to sponsor.
Due to comments from the Fire Department, staff Thiele said Mike, the City’s electrician, is changing
out the existing outlets.
Chair Lucarelli noted this discussion is going before Council tomorrow. We will have more information
to share after the Council meeting.
In response to Chair Lucarelli, staff Thiele said yes, the icicle lights will need to come down and be
replaced with LED lights. This is the City’s electrical system and it currently could be a fire hazard.
The committee discussed who has sponsored trees, LED lights, comments from the Fire Department,
liabilities and insurance, infrastructure and marquee, downtown icicle lights, temporary power outages
and tree decorations.
Public Works Updates
Staff Thiele said the big tree is coming Wednesday morning.
Songs for Chimes
Chair Lucarelli said we have a new system that can play songs that sound like chimes. Chime music is
hard to find. We found a recording of Christmas chimes that we can use and have paid for its usage.
We are currently working on the length of the software.
Porta Potties
Staff Floyd gave an update of the porta potties, noting they are going to be located by Hank’s Sheet
Metal.
The committee explained these porta potties are for the Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run, but they
can be used for the Festival of Chimes and Lights. Additionally, the committee pointed out other
bathroom locations that can be used during the event, porta potties are typically dropped off on Friday
and picked up on Monday, and more public outreach regarding bathroom locations.

2019 Event Updates
The committee discussed Santa’s sleigh and location of Santa pictures, lighted musical display, tractor
route changes, lighted boats, signage, volunteer locations, power sources, canopy and tents, firepits,
timeframe of events and public works follow-up.
There being no further business, Chair Lucarelli adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m. Audio-only
recording was successful.
