A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH PORT ORCHARD INDEPENDENT AS
THE CITY'S OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER
WHEREAS, RCW 35.21.875 requires each City or town to designate an Official
City Newspaper; and
WHEREAS, the newspaper shall be of general circulation within that City or
town and shall have been published regularly, at least once a week, for the past six
months; and
WHEREAS, Request for Newspaper Publication Services was published April
10, 2009, and two bids were received from the Kitsap Sun and the Port Orchard
Independent by the closing date of April 30, 2009; and
WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed the two bids and has determined that
Port Orchard Independent to be the low bidder per the attached contract attached
hereto and referenced as Exhibit A; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The Mayor is authorized to execute a contract with the P01t
Orchard Independent designating the Port Orchard Independent as the
City's Official Newspaper in accordance with Port Orchard Municipal
Code Chapter 1.16 and for the terms as set forth and incorporated
herein by reference in the attached Exhibit A.

EACH BIDDER SHALL SUBMIT ONE COMPLETED,
SIGNED ORIGINAL BID PACKET:
The City of Port Orchard, upon award, will sign the document and return one copy to the
successful bidder.
Upon signature by the City of Port Orchard, the bid document becomes the contract between the
City and Newspaper. All documents referenced therein become part of the contract by their
reference.
The term of the contract shall be for a period of one (1) year, to commence on June 1, 2009 and
ending May 31, 2010.
