A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
A CONTRACT WITH THE PORT OF BREMERTON
REGARDING USE OF HOTEL/MOTEL TAX FUND FOR
FOOT FERRY SERVICE DURING THE KITSAP HARBOR
FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, Kitsap Transit has reduced the foot ferry services on the weekends
between Port Orchard and Bremerton; and
WHEREAS, the Port of Bremerton, the City of Bremerton, and the City of Port
Orchard have come together to support foot ferry services during the Kitsap Harbor
Festival to be held Memorial weekend; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase foot ferry service on festival
weekends; and
WHEREAS, at its March 11, 2009, meeting the Lodging Tax Advisory
Committee discussed and supporting using Hotel/Motel Tax for the foot ferry, especially
on special event weekends; and
WHEREAS, The Port of Bremerton has determined the cost to operate the foot
ferry on Sunday, May 24, 2009 and Monday, May 25, 2009, to be $3,802; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard recognizes the importance of having foot
ferry services during the Kitsap Harbor Festival as being a major tourist attraction and
supports utilizing Hotel/Motel tax funds in an amount not to exceed $1,300 as its share
of the costs; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The Mayor is authorized to execute a Civic Festival Funding
Agreement with the Port of Bremerton regarding use of Hotel/Motel
Tax for foot ferry services during the Kitsap Harbor Festival, which is
being hosted by both Port Orchard and Bremerton in an amount not to
exceed $1,300.
