RESOLUTION NO. 089-09
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE: BYRNE MEMORIAL
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR COMMUNITY
POLICING, OFFICER SAFETY AND TRAINING,
AND TECHNOLOGY.
WHEREAS, The City of Port Orchard Police Department applied for a grant
through the United States Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for the
purpose of obtaining funding to make improvements to the department's community
policing program, officer safety and training and technology; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard Police Department was notified on August
28, 2009, of the grant award for $11,534 to be used towards specific programs and
equipment enhancing department op erations,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CI1Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT: The City of Port Orchard accepts the grant award of
$11,534 from the US Department of Justice, Bureau of
Justice Assistance to be used for the purchase of equipment
and personnel costs in accordance with grant rules to
enhance the department's community policing programs,
officer safety and training, and technology, and further
authorizes the Mayor to execute the grant agreement.
