034-11 - Resolution - Establishing Reimbursement Rates for Police Security ExpensesIntroduced by: Requested by: Drafted by: Introduced: Adopted: RESOLUTION NO. 034-11 Police Chief Police Chief Police Chief October 11, 2011 October 11, 2011 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, ESTABLISHING REIMBURSEMENT RATES FOR ENHANCED POLICE SECURITY EXPENSES WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard has a municipal work force with specific skills and responsibilities, and WHEREAS, the City is prohibited from donating time, materials and money for private purposes; and WHEREAS, the City seeks to enhance public safety for specific community events, without undue expense from those events being placed on the City; now, therefore; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Repealer. Resolution No. 028-07 of the City of Port Orchard is hereby repealed. SECTION 2. Community events or private activities, which have not been previously exempted from reimbursement under prior City ordinance or resolution, and which require enhanced police security shall pay a flat rate of $55 per hour to the City for each commissioned officer and police reserve. The use of commissioned officers and police reserves shall be at the sole discretion of the Chief of Police. The presence of additional uniformed police within the City is deemed to be a public benefit, and thus the full cost of the officer, if greater than the above hourly rate, shall be an authorized City expense. SECTION 3· Effective Date. The effective date of this resolution shall be January 1, 2012.
