A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, HONORING FRED OLIN FOR HIS DEDICATED
SERVICE TO THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
WHEREAS, Fred Olin, a long-time resident of the Pott Orchard community,
has been actively involved in local government for the past four years; and
WHEREAS, Fred Olin was elected to the City Council on November 7, 2007,
and provided diligent public service during his term ending on December 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Olin has consistently demonstrated dedication and
devotion to the citizens of Port Orchard through his strong leadership as a Council
Committee Chair to the Public Property Committee, and an advocate for parks and
recreation; and now, therefore;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, HEREBYRESOLVESAS FOLLOWS:
THAT: Councilmember Fred Olin has earned the admiration and
respect of his community for his selfless endeavors in the past four years
in local government. Particularly noteworthy were his outstanding
contributions in the following significant City accomplishments:
o The advocacy of the City parks programs, working diligently
with community service groups, citizens, and City Staff;
o The installation of new playground equipment or facilities at
Central Park, Givens, VanZee, and other City Parks;
o The participation in the McCormick Village Parks plan efforts;
o The promotion of the first Skate Spot in Pott Orchard, ensuring
the skate board community is welcomed within the City; and
o The creation of the 2011 update to the City Parks Plan,
proposing solutions and projects that, when implemented, may
well serve as a legacy for the citizens and for the City as a whole.
Through his leadership and work with the Port Orchard City Council, state, federal,
and local agencies, Councilmember Olin was also instrumental in maintaining a debt free
status for the City of Port Orchard.
