018-12 - Resolution - Distribution of Lodging Tax Carryover RevenueRequested by: Councilmember Chang Introduced by: City Attorney Drafted by: City Attorney Reviewed by: City Attorney Introduced: June 26, 2012 Adopted: June 26, 2012 RESOLUTION NO. 018-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, REGARDING THE DISTRIBUTION OF FISCAL YEAR 2011 LODGING TAX CASH CARRYOVER REVENUE IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,700 WHEREAS, in accord with the procedures set forth in Chapter 67.28 RCW, the City collects lodging tax revenue and, after considering the recommendations of the City's lodging tax advisory committee, the City Council annually distributes said funds to eligible projects, festivals, and events; and WHEREAS, the initial awards of lodging tax revenue are based on projected tax receipts, which sometimes results in the accumulation of unallocated cash carryover tax revenue; and WHEREAS, in fiscal year 2011 the City accumulated the sum of $16,324 in lodging tax cash carryover revenue; and WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 027-11 and RCW 67.28.1817, the lodging tax advisory committee received applications from eight interested parties and has submitted its recommendation to the City Council concerning the distribution of the fiscal year 2011 lodging tax cash carryover revenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the recommendations of the lodging tax advisory committee and has determined to make limited use of the funds at this time and reserve the balance for future qualified projects; now, therefore; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: THAT: The Cruz is awarded $2,700.00 from fiscal year 2011 lodging tax cash carryover revenue; and FURTHER THAT: The balance of the fiscal year 2011 lodging tax cash carryover revenue is reserved for such eligible projects and events as the City Council may approve in the future.
