024-13 - Resolution - Declaring Timber at McCormick Village Park to be SurplusIntroduced by: Public Works Director Requested by: Public Works Director Drafted by: City Attorney Introduced: October 8, 2013 Adopted: October 8, 2013 RESOLUTION NO. 024-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DECLARING CERTAIN TIMBER AT McCORMICK VILLAGE PARK TO BE SURPLUS TO THE NEEDS OF THE CITY AND DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO SELL SAID TIMBER TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER WHEREAS,. the McCormick Village Park is a 27-acre site that is located adjacent to Old Clifton Road and north of McCormick golf course and was designated as park land in the broader McCormick Village development plan; and WHEREAS, in 2010 the City adopted the McCormick Village Park Master Plan which identified as a preferred alternative a development that included among other features a shared entry and parking area, trails, playground areas, a commons, and a meadow; and WHEREAS, in order to develop the property in accordance with the preferred alternative, it is necessary to engage in forest management and the harvesting and thinning of trees in an area of approximately 5·5 acres, which is referred to as the "Harvest Area·" and ' WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that timber and trees within the Harvest Area are surplus to the needs of the City and should be sold to the highest bidder; now, therefore; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: THAT: The timber and trees marked on the Harvest Area map attached hereto as Exhibit A are hereby declared surplus to the needs of the City; and FURTHER THAT: City staff is directed to undertake a public process to solicit bids for a timber stumpage sale contract and to select the highest responsible bidder.
