A RESOLUfiON OF THE CI'IY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON ADOPTING THE REVISION OF THE KITSAP
COUNTY MULTI-HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires that all
local organizations (governmental, tribal and not-for-profits), have an approved local
mitigation plan in accordance with 44 CFR 201.6 prior to receiving Hazard Mitigation
Grant Program (HMPG) funding; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management
has previously prepared a Kitsap County Mitigation Multi-Hazard Plan and has recently
revised the Plan and provided it to the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS the Plan has been updated to ensure consistency with the
federal Disaster Mitigation Act 2000; and
WHEREAS, the Plan shall not necessarily imply advocacy of, or support
for, individual mitigation initiatives proposed by other participating organizations, and the
adoption of the plan shall be subject to limitations as defined in the Plan, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that adopting the Plan will promote the
health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Port Orchard; now, therefore
THE CI'IY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE:
THAT the revised Kitsap County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is hereby
adopted.
PASS ED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by
the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 28th day of
January 2014.
