AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 2.6o.oio OF THE PORT ORCHARD
MUNICPAL CODE REGARDING CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, the Council desires to keep pace with increases to the minimum wage
requirement for Council members' participation in the Public Employees Retirement
System; and
WHEREAS, the current City Council Per -meeting rate is below the required
threshold of Public Retirement System Plans 2 and 3 eligibility, causing disruption to
members' participation; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION i. Section 2.6o.olo of the Port Orchard Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
2.6o.oio Per -meeting rate
City council members shall receive compensation in the amount of $500.00 per
regular council meeting.
SECTION 2. If any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance should be
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or
unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity of constitutionality of any other section,
sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after
posting and publication as required bylaw. A summary of this Ordinance maybe published
in lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
