ORDINANCE NO.023-12
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON ADOPTING A POLICY OF PAYMENT OF
CLAIMS OR OBLIGATIONS BY CHECK
WHEREAS, a second-class city may elect by ordinance to pay claims or other
obligations by warrant or check, pursuant to RCW 35.23.325; and
WHEREAS, the City strives to keep current on best practices that gain
efficiencies and lower cost; and
WHEREAS, checks are the standard of the banking system, and provide cash
management efficiencies, while maintaining the checks and balances that protect the
public purse; and
WHEREAS, checks provide account reconciliation that is compatible with
standard bank practices, and adapting to checks January 1, 2013 allows the utilization of
standard functionality of Springbrook accounting features; now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section i. It shall be the policy of the City to pay claims or other obligations of
the City out of solvent funds by check.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after
posting and publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be
published in lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State law.
