AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AMENDING THE PORT ORCHARD MUNICIPAL
CODE BYADDINGA NEW SECTION 10.12.o85 ENTITLED "CI --LAIN
PARKING PROHIBITED"
WHEREAS, pursuant to Port Orchard Municipal Code 10.12.o8o the City Council
may establish parking prohibitions and restrictions on City streets; and
WHEREAS, under the current provisions of the Port Orchard Municipal Code,
vehicles may park and re -park within the same stall in the downtown business district; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes it to be in the public interest to regulate and
limit parking and re -parking of vehicles in the downtown business district to provide
turnover of parking stalls for customers of downtown businesses; now, therefore,
THE CPl'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION i. Chapter 10.12 of the Port Orchard Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding a new section 10.12.085 entitled "Chain Parking Prohibited" to read as
follows:
io.i2.o85 Chain Parking Prohibited.
It shall be unlawful for any person to move and re -park any
vehicle within two blocks of the original parking space in order
to avoid the parking time limit regulation on Bay Street from
Orchard Avenue to Harrison Avenue; Sidney Street from
Prospect Street to the waterfront; and Frederick Avenue from
Prospect Street to the waterfront. For purposes of this section,
a block shall be defined as a city street or alley section located
between consecutive intersections. Violation of this section is a
Class C parking infraction.

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after
posting and publication as required bylaw. A summary of this Ordinance maybe published
in lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor
and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 22nd day of September,
2009.
