007-08 - Ordinance - Amending POMC 2.76.030 RE Membership for Design Review BoardORDINANCE NO. 007-08 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON AMENDING PORT ORCHARD MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.76.030 RELATING TO MEMBERSHIP FOR THE DESIGN REVIEW BOARD. WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the public interest of the citizens of Port Orchard to be flexible regarding the size of the Port Orchard Design Review Board; and WHEREAS, the City Council intends the Design Review Board to initially consist of five members who meet the eligibility requirements set forth in this ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City Council further intends that as future annexations occur and the population of the City increases, the Mayor may appoint two additional members to the Design Review Board, allowing for seven members consisting of not less than four lay positions and three professional positions; now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Port Orchard Municipal Code 2.76.030 is hereby amended to read as follows: 2.76.030 Board Established — Membership. (1) Appointment. There is created a Design Review Board consisting of not less than five and not more than seven members who shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council. Vacancies occurring otherwise than upon the expiration of terms may be filled for the unexpired terms by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council. (2) Membership. A five member Board shall consist of three lay members who reside within City limits or reside within the Port Orchard Urban Growth Area and have an interest in architecture, building, or design and two professional members who reside within City limits or reside within the Port Orchard Urban Growth Area or own a business within the City of Port Orchard, and who are desired to have expertise in any one of the following fields: architecture, landscape architecture, urban design/planning, structural engineering, graphic, industrial, and interior design, builder or carpenter, or similar disciplines, A seven member board shall consist of four lay members and three professional members who meet the qualifications set forth above. (3) Compensation. Board members shall serve without compensation. Ordinance No. 007-08 Page 2 of 2 5ECTIQN 2. A summary of this Ordinance may be published in lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law.
