1934 - Ordinance - Amending Ordinance 1923 and Adding New Section 2.04.040 Regarding Council's Rules for CommitteesORDINANCE NO. 1934 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1923 AND ADDING A NEW SECTION 2.04.240 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING THE CITY COUNCIL'S RULES FOR MAKING COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS WHEREAS the city of Port Orchard is governed by an elected Mayor and seven City Council members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 1923 the Port Orchard City Council established certain select committees to investigate and recommend policy to the full Council; and WHEREAS, the committee assignments are currently made in accordance with Ordinance No. 1923 by the three (3) Council members with the greatest number of years of service on the Council, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to update the select standing committees, and WHEREAS, the Council desires to amend the rules governing the assignment of Council members to select committees; now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. City Ordinance No. 1923 Sections 3 and 4 are deleted in their entirety. SECTION 2. The Port Orchard Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding a new section 2.04.240 to read as follows: 2.04.240 Council Committees. (1) The following Council committees are: County/City Liaison Finance Growth Management Hotel/Motel Tax Lights & Chimes Public Property Public Safety Street/Alley Utilities Economic Development Ordinance No.1934 Page 2 of 2 (2) At the first Monday in June 04, the City Council will have a special meeting and subsequently at a Council meeting in January of each even numbered year, the City Council shall establish the responsibilities of each committee, and the committee membership. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five (5) days after posting and publication as required by law. A summary of this Ordinance may be published in lieu of the entire ordinance, as authorized by State Law PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this e day of March 2004. ORDINANCE NO. 1934 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1923 AND ADDING A NEW SECTION 2.04.240 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING THE CITY COUNCIL'S RULES FOR MAKING COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS.
