06/06/1994 - Work Study - MinutesPort Orchard, Washington June 6, 1994 Mayor Protem John Clauson called the City Council to order at 7:35 PM for Study Session to discuss Stormwater Managment Program elements and goals. Council members present: Clauson, Childress, Morrison, Geiger and Grable. Staff present: City Engineer Curles and City Clerk Parks. Larry Curles, City Engineer, introduced Tony Barrett, WA State Department of Ecology, who outlined Puget Sound Water Quality Management Program relative to Storm Water Management goals. Mr. Barrett and Councilmembers discussed stormwater goals, strategies and mandated compliance dates. Cities with population of 50,000 or cities with adjacent urbanized unincorporated population of 50,000 or more are requested to adopt a basic stormwater management ordinance and technical manuals by July 1, 1995 and a Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan by the year 2000. Councilman Clauson questioned what avenues are available to cities who receive contradicting interpretations from various agencies or division within DOE. Mr. Barrett responded that the DOE Regional Office Supervisor in Bellevue is responsible for coordinating various DOE divisions that overlap each other. Meeting adjourned at 9:10 P.M.
