The following is a summary of an Ordinance approved by the Port Orchard City Council at their regular
Council meeting held June 25, 2001.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
DECLARING ITS INTENT TO JOIN AND BE ANNEXED TO KITSAP
COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 7; REQUSTING THE
CONCURRENCE OF THE FIRE DISTRICT AND REQUESTING THE
KITSAP COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION IN
THE CITY ON THE PROPOSITION OF WHETHER THE CITY SHOULD
BE ANNEXED TO THE KITSAP COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
NO. 7.

Orchard. Upon written request a statement of the full text of the Ordinance will be mailed to any
interested person without charge. Thirty days afler publication, copies of Ordinance No. 1823 will be

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, KITSAP
COUNTY, WASHINGTON DECLARING ITS INTENT TO JOIN
AND BE ANNEXED TO KITSAP COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION
DISTRICT NO. 7; REQUESTING THE CONCURRENCE OF
THE FIRE DISTRICT AND REQUESTING THE KITSAP
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION IN
THE CITY ON THE PROPOSITION OF WHETHER THE CITY
SHOULD BE ANNEXED TO THE KITSAP COUNTY FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 7
WHEREAS, the Council finds that the public interest will be served by annexing to the
Kitsap County Fire Protection District; now, therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Declaration of Intent. The City of Port Orchard hereby declares its intent
to join and be annexed to Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 7.
SECTION 2: Reouest for Concurrence of Fire District. The Port Orchard City Council
hereby requests that the Board of Commissioners of the Fire District concur with the proposed annexation
of the City of Port Orchard to the Fire Protection District.
SECTION 3. Reauest for Soecial Election. The Kitsap County Commissioners are
hereby requested to pass a Resolution setting a Special Election to be held in the City of Port Orchard on
November 6, 2001, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Port Orchard the
proposition of whether the City of Port Orchard should annex to Kitsap County Fire Protection District No.
7. The Kitsap County Commissioners are also requested to give notice of the election as provided in
RCW 29.27.080. The proposition to be submitted at the Special Election shall be in the form of a ballot
title as follows:

Shall the City of Port Orchard be annexed to and be a part of Kitsap
County Fire Protection District No. 7

SECTION 4. Direction to Citv Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a
true and correct certified copy of this Ordinance to Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 7 and upon
concurrence of the Fire Protection District forward their recommendation and a true and correct certified
copy of this Ordinance to the Kitsap County Commissioners.

SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect he (5) days afler publication
as required by law. A summaiy of this Ordinance may be published in lieu of the entire Ordinance, as
authorized by State law.
