1940 - Resolution - Intent to Increase Annual Tax Levy11/08/2001 DRAFT DROPPED NO ACTION TAKEN BY COUNCIL 10/22/01 RESOLUTION NO. 1940 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD. WASHINGTON, EXPRESSING THE COUNCIL'S INTENT TO INCREASE THE ANNUAL TAX LEVY IF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD IS ANNEXED INTO KITSAP COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 7 WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard has passed Ordinance No. 1823 indicating its intent to annex into Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 7 and request that the matter be submitted to a vote of the citizens; and WHEREAS, RCW 52.04.081 authorizes the increase in the tax levy rate if the City of Port Orchard annexes into Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 7; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Council to increase the levy rate if the annexation is successful; and WHEREAS, in order to make sure that the electorate is fully informed of the impact of their vote the Council wishes to express its intent prior to the citizens voting on the annexation issue; now, therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: THAT: The City Council hereby expresses its intent to increase the tax levy rate, as authorized by RCW 52.04.081, if the City of Port Orchard is annexed into Kitsap County Fire Protection District No. 7. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, SIGNED by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this th day of June 2001. LESLIE J. TABLED MOTION: Motion to table by Councilman Geiger, seconded by Councilman Stansbery -7/9/01 Motion to Table to determine when the city could consider implementing an increase of the annual tax levy and also until the issue of the annexation into the Fire District has been resolved.
