RESOLUTION NO. 1949
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON,
APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF AN AGENT TO RECEIVE
CLAIMS FOR DAMAGES AS REQUIRED BY RCW 4.96.020, AS
AMENDED BY EHB 1530.
WHEREAS, state law requires that a claim for damages against a municipality be
presented to and filed with the governing body of the local government entity; and
WHEREAS, EHB 1530, which was passed by the 2001 Legislature, amends RCW
4.96.020 to require that each local government appoint an identified agent to receive claims for damages;
and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the appropriate agent for receipt of any such
claims filed against the City of Port Orchard is the City Clerk, now therefore
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HERE RESOLVE AS
FOLLOV'JS:
SECTION 1. As recommended by SR-164-01, pursuant to RCW 4.96.020 as
amended by EHB 1530, the City Clerk is hereby designated as the agent to receive all claims for
damages filed against the City of Port Orchard.
