1790 - Resolution - Temporary Placement of Vista Motel SignsRESOLUTION NO. 1790 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON APPROVING TEMPORARY PLACEMENT OF "VISTA MOTEL" SIGNS ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY - LOCATED ON TREMONT STREET AT THE PORT ORCHARD BOULEVARD INTERSECTION. WHEREAS, the Vista Motel, applicant, has submitted an application to place a "Vista Motel" sign on the Public Right of Way, located on Tremont Street at the Port Orchard Boulevard intersection; and WHEREAS, Vista Motel conveyed that their objective of seeking authorization to place this sign at the requested location is to alleviate traffic congestion, safety concerns and meet the State Department of Transportation follow through sign requirements; and WHEREAS, On November 10, 1997 the City Council approved, on a temporary basis, the application to place the "Vista Motel" sign. WHEREAS, based on the testimony and materials presented, the City Council does hereby conclude that approving a temporary placement of the "Vista Motel" sign would not be detrimental to the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community; and it is in the best interest of the community to allow installation of the sign as requested by the Vista Motel, applicant. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Council of the City of Port Orchard, Washington does hereby authorize a temporary placement of the "Vista Motel" sign, on Tremont Street at the Port Orchard Boulevard intersection as requested by the Vista Motel, applicant, with the following conditions: 1. The sign shall not adversely affect motorists' sight distance. 2. The sign must be the same size and dimensions as similar signs approved at the above described locations (3 feet tall by 2 feet wide). 3. The sign shall be removed at the owner's expense when future road improvements or other City improvements require it. 4. The sign is approved on a temporary basis until such time as the City constructs a composite sign. 5. The applicant must participate in the cost of the composite signage. Resolution No. 1790 Page Two of Two 6. The sign must be located in a staggered format, so as to not block the other signs. 7. The owner shall list the City as an additional insured for any accidents or claims involving the sign. The insurance coverage shall be at least $500,000. Bodily Injury and $500,000. Property Damage or $1,000,000. Combined Bodily Injury and Property Damage. Proof of this coverage shall be submitted to the City Clerk prior to installation of the signs.
