A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON
ENDORSING THE NEW JUVENILE DETENTION FACILITY.
WHEREAS, The City of Port Orchard uses the correctional facilities
for juveniles and adults within Kitsap County; and
WHEREAS, The City Council agrees with Ki tsap County that the existing
Juvenile Center is inadequate and can no longer meet the needs of the community;
and
WHEREAS, the effectiveness of justice in the juvenile courts is being
seriously undermined by a lack of a proper detention facility; and
WHEREAS, the new facility needs to be constructed to meet the needs
of the future and to comply with the stringent standards established by the
courts;
THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE THE FOLLOWING:
The City Council of the City of Port Orchard strongly endorses the
construction of a new facility as being proposed in the September 1995 election.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by
the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 28th
day of August, 1995.
