A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON HONORING FORMER MAYOR PAUL D.
POWERS AND DEDICATING THE PORT ORCHARD
BYPASS BRIDGE TO HIS MEMORY.
WHEREAS, Our Nation is based on a government of the
people, by the people and for the people and upon this principle,
we derive our strength; and
WHEREAS, Our leaders are those men and women who stand
forth to assume the responsibilities of their communities; and
WHEREAS, Paul D. Powers demonstrated a life of strong
leadership, community involvement and sincere concern for his
fellow citizens that will serve as an example for future
generations;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
AND MAYOR LESLIE J. WEATHERILL, IN AGREEMENT WITH THE KITSAP
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:
In recognition and gratitude for his years of service
to his community as a City Councilman, City Mayor,
Kitsap County Planning Commissioner, community leader
through many activities and affiliation and his
dedication to his family;
WE HEREBY DEDICATE THE PORT ORCHARD BYPASS BRIDGE TO
PAUL D. POWERS FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE AND DEVOTION
TO HIS SOUTH KITSAP COMMUNITY.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard,
APPROVED by the mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication
of such passage this 27th day of April, 1992.
