A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE RELOCATION OF THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION PASSENGER
ONLY FERRY FROM BREMERTON TO SOUTHWORTH
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of
Transportation has announced the Passenger Only Ferry
service is to be relocated, and
WHEREAS, the population of the South Kitsap
area is growing rapidly, and
WHEREAS, many of South Kitsap residents
commute to the greater Seattle area via the ferry
system or by driving through Tacoma, and
WHEREAS, providing passenger ferry service
from Southworth to the downtown Seattle terminal would
reduce vehicle usage and commute time for South Kitsap
residents
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PORT
ORCHARD CITY COUNCIL THAT:
The City of Port Orchard does support the
relocation of the passenger ferry service terminal and
urges the State of Washington Department of
Transportation to make Southworth their first choice
for the relocation of the passenger only ferries now
serving Bremerton.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port
Orchard, APPROVED by the mayor and attested by the Clerk in
authentication of such passage this 11th day of May, 1992.
