1567 - Resolution - Smoking in City Vehicles and FacilitiesRESOLUTION NO. 1567 V A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON PROHIBITING SMOKING IN CITY FLEET VEHICLES AND CITY OWNED OR OPERATED FACILITIES, EXCEPT FIRE STATIONS WHEREAS, the Washington Clean Air Act prohibits smoking in that portion of any building or vehicle used by and open to the public regardless of whether the building or vehicle is owned by private persons or any public entity; and WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard recognizes the increasing evidence that tobacco smoke in closely confined places may create a danger to the health of some employee or citizen. NOW, THEREFORE, in order to protect the health and welfare of those citizens and employees of the City of Port Orchard, the City Council of the City of Port Orchard does hereby resolve that smoking is prohibited in all city owned or operated fleet vehicles and buildings, except fire stations. Where smoking areas are designated, existing physical barriers and ventilation systems shall be used to minimize the toxic effect of smoke in adjacent non-smoking areas.
