1459 - Resolution - Lieutenant Ambrose Barkley WyckoffRESOLUTION NO. 1459 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ambrose Barkley Wyckoff was an active participant in charting Puget Sound waters from 1877-1879, to insure safe navigation for all vessels; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ambrose Barkley Wycoff was instrumental in establishing the United States Naval Drydock, Port Orchard in 1891 now known as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton,; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ambrose Barkley Wyckoff was the first Commandant of the United States Naval Drydock, Port Orchard, WA now known as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Ambrose Barkley Wyckoff was the Officer in Charge of the Hydrographic Office in Port Townsend, Washington from 1902-1910. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Co.uncil of the City of Port Orchard does hereby resolve that: In recognition of his dedicated efforts in developing the Puget Sound region and the personal sacrifice to his physical health from the improvised housing during development of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard facilities, we urge that the name of LIEUTENANT AMBROSE BARKLEY WYCKOFF be included in the State of Washington Hall of Honor. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, APPROVED by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in authentication of such passage this 8th .day of June, 1987. LESLIE J.
