1433 - Resolution - Houses to be Exempt from Water-Sewer Turn Off ProceduresRESOLUTION NO. 1433 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD AUTHORIZING FEDERAL AGENCY REPOSSESSED HOUSES BE EXEMPT FROM WATER -SEWER TURN OFF PROCEDURES WHEREAS, the City of Port Orchard has established procedures for billing delinquent water -sewer charges. (POMC 13.04.030), and; WHEREAS, established procedures mandate, that if the charges and penalties remain unpaid for a period of thirty days after the due and payable date, service will be. discontinued by turn off, and; WHEREAS, service will not be resumed thereafter until all delinquent charges and penalties together with a turn on fee have been paid in full, and; WHEREAS, situations occur where delinquent water -sewer charges are against property owned by a federal governmental agency (i.e. FHA, VA, iNMA, FREDIMAC, G.Et;MA - repossessed properties), and; WHEREAS, federal payment procedures inhibit the local area federal property manager's ability to get water service reinstated thus allowing rehabilitation of the property for resale. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard, that effective November 1, 1986, upon receipt of a signed federal payment vouchers, federal repossessed properties shall be exempt from turn off procedures. However, federal properties will be subject to all fees and penalties.
