RESOLUTION NO. 1380 ( /
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DO
HEREBY RESOLVE
WHEREAS, the health and safety of the public are
of concern, and,
WHEREAS, conservation of natural resources and
energy are matters of public concern, and,
WHEREAS, several hundreds of persons reside in the
area on and immediately _east of Mitchell Avenue from

William J. Bill Nelson Viaduct south toward Lincoln
Avenue, and,
WHEREAS, there is no public connection between
Mitchell Avenue and Bethel Avenue north of Lincoln until
Plisko Lane is reached, excepting that ;included in the
design of the new U.S. Post Office on Bethel Avenue, and,
WHEREAS, use of this connection is denied to the
public by the Post Off ice's security fence, and,
WHEREAS, this forces many residents who otherwise
could walk to the post office to choose between driving a
vehicle and a lengthy hike along Bethel Avenue which is a
very busy street without sidewalks, now,
THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the City of g
Port Orchard respectfully requests the U.S. Post office
Department to relocate its southern security fence and
provide a public footpath along the southern margin
of the property it owns or controls between Mitchell and
Bethel Avenues at the Port Orchard Post Office site.

and APPROVED by the Mayor this llth day of February, 1985.
