1389 - Resolution - Support of New Ferry Terminal in Downtown BremertonRESOLUTION NO. 1389 t/
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Port
Orchard have been longtime users of the Washington
State Ferry System; and
WHEREAS, Port Orchard residents, as well as
Bremerton and Kitsap County residents are users of
the ferry system; and
WHEREAS, a new ferry terminal would enhance
the downtown Bremerton area and be compatible with its
waterfront comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Port Orchard would welcome a new ferry terminal in
downtown Bremerton at its present location; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and residents of
Port Orchard would welcome a reasonable mix of rapid
passenger only and vehicle ferry service;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
OF PORT ORCHARD that full support and encouragement
is hereby given to the Washington State Department of
Transportation and the Legislature of the State of
Washington to fund the construction of a new ferry
terminal in downtown Bremerton at its present location
and take the necessary action to initiate a reasonable
mix of rapid passenger only and vehicle ferry service.

Port Orchard this 22nd day of April, 1985.
