1367 - Resolution - Reclassifying Fire Marshal to Deputy Chief/Fire Marshalr RESOLUTION NO. 1367 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD RECLASSIFYING THE POSITION OF FIRE MARSHAL TO THAT OF A DEPUTY CHIEF/FIRE MARSHAL POSITION AND PROVIDING FOR THE SALARY THEREOF. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: THAT: Whereas the job description attached hereto. and with the salary as set forth below for a Deputy Chief/ Fire Marshal has been reviewed by the Mayor and Council members, and WHEREAS: The Fire Chief recommends that the present position of Fire Marshal be reclassified to that of a Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal position with a salary of $29,505 per year. THEREFORE: The Council of the City of Port Orchard does hereby APPROVE reclassification of the Fire Marshal position to that of Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal at the salary set forth above. PASSED by the Council of the City of Port Orchard and APPROVED by the Mayor on this 13th day of November, 1984. The deputy chief/fire marshal shall establish a fire investigative command at fire scenes and shall correlate investigative activities with the line of staff officers. The deputy chief/fire marshal is existing structures in the City a reasonable degree of safety to forces of fire. responsible to police and responsible for maintaining life and property from the The deputy chief/fire marshal must be knowledgable in the structural nature of commercial buildings in the City, and their contents. The deputy chief/fire marshal shall be efficient in all phases of fire department functions, and shall act as an extension to the chief's office and take charge in the chief's absence. The deputy chief/fire marshal shall participate with other staff officers in the budgetary process. The deputy chief/fire marshal shall work with the chief in the day to day operation of the department and represent the chief's office at meetings and or other functions the chief is unable to attend, so as to allow broader representation from the Port Orchard Volunteer Fire Department. The deputy chief/fire marshal.is an administrative position and may be subject to call -out status outside of regular work shift hours.
