A RESOLUTION Declaring Support of the
Council of the City of Port Orchard
for the KITSAP SUBREGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
PLAN as a General Guide for Growth
Management in the Kitsap Countywide
Area. -
WHEREAS, it is the intention of local jurisdictions
within Kitsap County to carry out growth management in a
consistent and cooperative manner in order to help assure
maximum cost effectiveness of public expenditures and to
better achieve mutually desired planning objectives; and
WHEREAS, the Kitsap Subregional Council of the
Puget Sound Council of Governments, of which the `City ;of
Port Orchard is'a member, has adopted a conceptual growth
management framework generally known as the."urban con-
centration concept to use in its land -use related actions;
and
WHEREAS, .this framework is entitled the KITSAP
SUBREGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN and is currently consistent
with and supportive of the plans and programs of the.City
of Port Orchard,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the KITSAP
SUBREGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN be endorsed by the City of
Port Orchard Council as a countywide planning framework
for the jurisdictions in Kitsap County; and
FURTHER; that the City of Port Orchard will use
the SUBREGIONAL PLAN in its land use policy decisions as
a general guide in defining growth -related concerns; and
FURTHER, that any inconsistencies of the SUB -
REGIONAL PLAN with the City of Port Orchard that may now
exist or that may exist in the furture will be resolved
through the amendment process.
