AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL
ELECTION OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF
PORT ORCHARD FOR NOVEMBER 3, 1998, PURSUANT TO
RCW 84.52.069, TO LEVY A SIX YEAR TAX ESTIMATED AT
$.50 PER THOUSAND OF ASSESSED VALUATION FOR THE
PURPOSE OF PAYING PORT ORCHARD'S SHARE OF
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF PORT
ORCHARD.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Port Orchard finds that it is necessary to
levy a tax estimated at $.50 per thousand of assessed valuation for each of the years 1999-
2004 in addition to the regular $3.375 per thousand of assessed valuation allowed by law, for
the purpose of continuing to pay Port Orchard's share of Emergency Medical Services for the
City of Port Orchard, now, therefore,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD,
WASHINGTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That there be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Port
Orchard, at a Primary Election to be held November 3, 1998, in all precincts within said City the
proposition whether the City Council shall be authorized to levy a tax estimated at $.50 per
thousand of assessed valuation for each of the years 1999-2004 in addition to the regular
$3.375 per thousand of assessed valuation allowed by law, in an amount sufficient to raise
funds for each of the years 1999-2004 for the purpose of continuing to pay Port Orchard's
share of Emergency Medical Services for the City of Port Orchard.
Section 2. That the Clerk of the City of Port Orchard is hereby authorized to
certify to the Kitsap County Auditor the propositions to be voted on by the electors at said
election:

Shall the City of Port Orchard be authorized to continue collecting regular property tax
levies of $.50 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation for each of six (6) consecutive years,
commencing in 1999, for the provision of emergency medical services? (Pursuant to RCW
84.52.069 and City of Port Orchard Ordinance No. 1722)

Section 3: That the Port Orchard City Council hereby request that the Kitsap
County Auditor give the Notice of Special Election and supervise the details thereof.

Section 4: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage
and publication according to law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Port Orchard and signed by the Mayor
